Merrill landed on the ground, falling to his knees. He coughed, his body slowly recovering from the last series of fights.
"Well kid, we survived."
Honestly, Death had saved them.
"Thank you. i know it was out of self preservation, but still."
"Look kid, it's not just about that. You've shown growth. And Guts, standing up to those bigger than you. And I can appreciate that a little."
"Thank you again. Both of you."
Her voice was soft and quiet. She retreated instantly, still emotionally dealing with the burn trauma. They both were surprised at her sudden behavior change.
" I'm sorry... It's my fau-"
"it was nothi-"
Both stopped mid sentence. Merrill looked up. There was a fleet of figures above them. So many that the sun faded out at points between them Merrill then noted something as they began dropping to the ground: The red eye. He had read about them in a book. Reav... Oh, what were they again?
"Reaverbots. I'll be damned. Never thought I'd see any of them again. Merrill, you need to be careful. I can take over again. Scratch that, I WILL take over again."
They both felt Life shake. She didn't peak, but the image of a large Reaverbot towering over her appeared before them. Nothing else needed to be said.
Several dropped within yards from him. Their eyes glowed red, and they targeted him. Life and Death were already in his hands.
"What the hell is going on?"
He shouted, yet the reaverbots seemed not to care. The ones that noticed him all moved in to attack, and some others began heading towards his house, and the ruins nearby. So, he fired a beam of light in the air to get the attention of as many as he could.
"HEY, YOU PIECES OF SCRAP! BRING IT ON!"
"Hey. You should try out that new technique. Use my power to restore your vitality."
Merrill sighed, realizing that the Spirit was right. He took a deep breath, his weapons beginning to glow with a crimson layer of light. He dashed forward, to the closest one, and carved through him. He felt a tiny bit of his energy return, although his body was sore and tight. He grunted, turning and striking another in the eye. He moved around carefully, in a circle. He made sure to stay within range of two or three at a time, until they closed in too much. He jumped, unfurling his wings long enough to get a burst of air beneath him, until he reached a tree. He jumped towards another tree, and another, until there was enough space to land, and fight a few more Reaverbots. He would repeat this strategy, hi body recovering slowly. Flickers of light begining to eminate off of his body, that were white, as the crimson energy of the swords decimated through the many enemies.
