As their combined assault crashed into the giant, it reeled back. And while it tried to move still, electricity coursed through its body as it shut down instead. It collapsed in a massive heap, slamming into the ground unmoving. But it didn't decomplie or delete like other things would when they were broken or destroyed by others. Was it a sign that it could keep going?

"Huh, so it was a sword after all."
*Just one of those smaller katanas that they kept in those sort of scabbards. That was why it came off as just a stick to him. Still, that was nice too and still a bit different. Honestly though he was a bit disappointed but also had his expectations met. His expectations were met because as he expected, the newcomer and Zaven could deal with this opponent rather handily. He was disappointed because this was all it had. At least he managed to get a nice show from those two instead to make up for it, going over to investigate it further.*
"I had a feeling as such, but this isn't exactly a navi. Though calling it a program isn't accurate either. Regardless, it's a weapon likely owned by the NIA. I wanted to figure out how it functioned and how its abilities worked and got a rough idea of how they do."
*He was looking over its supposed carcass now. He was certain it was actually down and not playing dead. It wasn't deleted because the same terminology didn't apply to it was all. He got this idea when he tried his abilities on it earlier to not avail. Honestly, why hadn't they used this sort of stuff for their border instead? ...It probably would have drawn too much attention if others knew they had something like this. But that meant that it could be of use tot them now instead.*

The now revealed swordsman did not say much in response, merely giving a small 'hm' in response as he eyed the fallen foe. Given the weapon itself, they weren't all too many choices to look at, in a way. Still, he was glad that it finally fell. He wasn't quite sure he'd be able to dish out more after that. He did a slow walk up to it along with Genesis.
"Is it permanently down then?"
Still, that had been a rather tough opponent. The NIA... They certainly were stepping up their game, weren't they? Shaking his head, the Navi sheathed his katana, spinning the sheathe as he still held it in hand.
"Is it fair to assume you're going to use it against them in return somehow?"

"That investigative approach does explain why you didn't just go nuts on this guy like you always do."
He had his hands behind his head as he approached slowly behind Genesis and Regis now too. He was definitely more accustomed to Genesis having an answer to things like this. And he knew for a fact that he had plenty of answers for a target that didn't move like this one. But as he didn't use them, it was to discover how it applied to others. It was information for later, if Zaven himself or someone else were to meet it on their own instead of the Overlord. And the new swordsman had asked the question he was gonna ask, stealing his thunder like that... but it was cool he supposed.

*They could assume that it was going to stay down. If it didn't then they could just put it down again instead. So he ultimately nodded to Regis in both regards, both for it staying down and for the fact he was going to use it against them. Turning someone's tool on them was a fun way of telling them to quit fooling around like this, after all. It was all about how you did it as well.*
"Using it against them in this state is pointless. It's a useless weapon with its current parameters and even that other guy I saw at the border would've been fine against it. So we'll dismantle it instead."
*They would take the aspects of it that worked and put it together with their own if they so desired. The lake wasn't a place that many folks visited so this was as good as any when it came to a location to do this at. So he opened his hand, a black sphere forming that he launched at it. It was encased in it, though the purpose of this bubble was difficult to discern right now as he called up another of the swords he made during the battle. He moved the sword deftly in hand, aiming precisely at certain parts of each limb to sever that from the body of the beast. It would be easier to transport for later if he made it smaller, so he did. From here he started his goal of carving out parts of its armor, the part that he was aiming for from the beginning. It wasn't as though he intended to change his own armor, just add to it much like his old friend added to the cloak he still wore to this day.*

The gunner had brought up a good point. Despite its defenses, Genesis should have been able to tear through it, in the end. Was it only for just this though? Or also to see what he himself could do? Well, it passed through for now, the swordsman watching the Overlord go to work and slicing the giant. Was that because it was downed, or Genesis was just that strong? It had taken all of what he had just to break through with that attack, after all.
"I suppose now would be a good a time as any to introduce myself, though. Regis."
He had been planning to do so when they fought each other, but this had taken precedence over that. And it wasn't the easiest, or first thing on his mind, when he got into a fight to do an introduction. Though, the newly named Regis gave a shrug, still looking at what the other Navi was doing.
"Are we all getting upgrades from this?"
It was a casual tone, born more from idle curiosity than genuine desire for it. In the end, it would not change him if he got, and less so if he did not.

"Upgrades? Long as I keep my guns and just get slighter cooler variants of them, upgrades are fine."
Though it was amusing to hear Genesis call it a useless weapon in its present condition. Was he referring to its overall power or because maybe they had some sort of tool to fix that up if it did get reprogrammed to be used against them? Looked like while it was down its defenses weren't as intense too. Well, that and Genesis could swing pretty hard. While it might not immediately have the same raw force that he and Regis had straight out in the end there, each of his swings caught up very quickly instead. It was something that they could work on over time, if nothing else. In their own way as they climbed their way up.
As it were Genesis was able to dismantle the material, steadily carving up the body of the giant to obtain the amount of armor he desired. If he was looking for the weaponry, those would be inside the arms he carved off already. That about summed up the make of the machine that they faced this time.

"I think my introduction has already been taken care of, but I am Genesis."
*He had carved up much more armor than necessary. Given the size of it compared to them, he wouldn't need nearly as much as he had cut off of it. But he had practically skinned it, taking a lot of it for himself as it was practically assimilated inside of his own armor. He layered up on it, time and again to match his own durable armor. It would meld in and acclimate, adjust, and enhance the armor he already possessed with the properties that he desired from it. That left some of it left over still, thinking of how to forge it into something else for the others. While he was good at manipulating things, legitimately making equipment for others wasn't exactly his strong suit. He just knew himself very well so it wasn't exactly difficult for him to meld it into what he already possessed.*
"Anything in particular you want to do with this, Regis?"

He imagined that the gunner was simply to into whatever to pay attention to his entire sentence. Maybe he would just get it later then. He did find it funny that Genesis instead was the one to pay attention to that. It was interesting, watching the Navi take in the armor. Hearing the question from the Overlord, Regis gave a small hum, walking over.
"Primarily I would be looking to help out my weapon."
Something he could do on his own, to be honest. In his opinion, and that of his original creator, a person had to know more than just using their weapon; maintenance, make and upgrade were to be part and parcel in mastering it. One of the few things they agreed on. But he was sort of interested in what the Overlord would have in mind. After all, what someone made spoke a lot of who they were.
"My armor could probably look to be upped, but that's less of a concern to be honest."

He was watching the work be done, then looked over to the lake. It actually wasn't until after Regis had finished his reply about what he would want from this that Zaven decided to look back suddenly and chime in, as if he suddenly was back to reality for whatever reason.
"Oh yeah, should probably introduce myself. Totally forgot. I'm Zaven."
Either he lagged out or really wasn't paying attention, but he at least had introduced himself now too. While Genesis had been successful with his work with the Golem, it was hard to say that any parts of it could be ultimately utilized with weaponry. Its overall functions didn't mesh well with weaponry, even in experienced hands that would try to do so. In fact, the substance of the materials in general were actually very volatile to their data. If not for Genesis' properties to change that along the way, they wouldn't have been able to be utilized in the way that he had done so. But it was strange, as it wasn't as though it were bugged or anything like that. But it still was off despite everything else. He could probably alter the property should he put it to work with Regis, but whether or not it would be a permanent shift after Regis left Genesis' proximity was up for guessing.
Genesis Acquired: Golem Armor.

*Why was this so volatile exactly? He had seen so many different kinds of data at this point that he was a bit concerned that he didn't recognize this. Unfamiliar kinds of all sorts that he had also managed to gather at least a measure of control over, enough for it to not bother him should he run against them generally. And yet it had managed to be used to create a massive being like this... it was questionable how this thing was created now. And also questionable if it could guarantee Regis' safety should he create one for him as well given the risks versus the rewards. If he was going to test something, best keep the testing around himself instead of involving Regis as well. So this would serve as something of a side project to deal with instead at another time.*
"Give me a bit of time and I will see what I can do. It takes a bit more effort than I expected."
*Guess he would have to transport this thing with him for a while. Sometimes he wished he had the same sort of space as Twilight did, but he would have to make due with his Apocrypha. So he moved his mantle, extending as it covered the entirety of the being before he pulled back. And when he had, the being was gone, taken into the space within it for safe keeping until he could better test it out. And in a possibly safer location than near this lake in particular. He'd go to the fortress, but that particular connection was still cut off as of this moment so actually arriving there was a problem. Couldn't use those resources, after all.*

"I do not mind either way."
He replied simply with a shrug. After all, his weapon was rather... unique in a way, he'd like to think. It ultimately did not matter to him if Genesis was actually able to upgrade it or not. It was just more curiosity to see if he had the ability to. Which, given what he heard and saw, sounded like regularly the Overlord did. Just that the material the construct was made from was rather... strange. Which was obvious, given how it had stuck around. He blinked, seeing what the Navi did what the remains. That... that was unexpected in a way. And certainly interesting to see to be entirely honest. Spatial manipulation of sorts as well? He refrained from giving a small snort. It seemed like the onyx Navi did not really confine himself to the norm, did he? A light frown played across his face once he finished his thoughts.
"So, what exactly was that? It can't be normal, given how sturdy it was, and the fact that its material is still present."
It had likely been here to hunt for Genesis. Maybe even the gunner Zaven. Atleast, Regis could not really see an obvious reason why he would be included in the battle outside of being in proximity. Either way, he had never seen this type of material or make before.

Rare for Genesis to be a bit concerned about his work, so it must have been extra volatile compared to most things they dealt with. Though he also shrugged at Regis' questioning, because he had no clue about what in the world was going down either. Why? Because he just got here! After being told that things got rather heated over at the border and it got blown up while he was chilling out nearby this lake, he showed up to get the info. Mostly because they were back in business in their fight against the powers that be.
"I wasn't here so definitely wasn't targeting me. All on you this time, Gen."
But he was still nonchalant enough about things to be like this too. He figured Genesis didn't mind since he was the guy who probably started the fight... well, probably not. They probably tried to apprehend him first and then they got a life lesson in how Overlords don't get captured very easily. And are pretty destructive, but then that was common now with him. But hey, this was actually pretty tame in comparison to what could have happened given some of the other times Genesis had decided to trade blows with somebody.

"I don't know what it is either. I assume it's a weapon from the NIA, but not how they made it or anything like that."
*Nor why they would... well, no, he could understand why they would make it. In their misguided attempts to fix things that wasn't their concern. Though seeing how he could handle it meant it wasn't living up to the job that it was made for. Unless it was designed to hunt down certain ones below a certain level of strength? Was this a test for that? Or had they expected it to be enough? It was hard to say with a lack of information so for the time being it was better off to keep it in mind. There was only one option to do then if he wanted to get more concrete answers for this whole situation. It was their 'turf', after all.*
"Guess I can just go visit them and ask them directly about it. In the meantime, shall we get to that sparring session now?"
*It would let him test out his new addition too. And though Regis had shown off during the fight, he imagined that he still wanted to test himself. And in order to do so, they would have to stick to their original plan before they got interrupted by this strange 'weapon', as he would call it for the time being.*

Regis gave a small hum in response to Genesis' answer. He hadn't expected much out of such a vague question so early after all, but the assumptiong that it had been from the NIA... That was an interesting one, in a way? But also amongst the more likely culprits. So for the katana-user personally, it was a mix of some intrigue and yet not. It was hard to say what it's genuine purpose was though, given how strange it acted in combat.. Being in thought, he almost missed the Overlord's question. The Navi couldn't help but give a wry grin in response.
"Given how we were rudely interrupted before we could settle on a proper arena, I don't see why not. We managed to keep this area relatively clean, atleast."
Given how Genesis had fended off the golem's attack, and wasn't the one who was actively attacking, the lake area shouldn't have much, if at all any, damage done to it. But still, now to see just how he could match up against one of the ones hailed as the strongest of their era. Despite the immense strength the Onyx Overlord had, it still made Regis... excited, to try and see exactly what he could do. Whether that meant coming up woefully short, and exceeding expectations, either way, it was one to learn in.
"Where do you think is best?"
