Navis allowed: Kajira
Location: ONB training room Posts: intro 1, battle 5 Version Setting: ON Version Bonus: ON Judgement: Single (requesting)
Seemingly out of the blue, Serix had messaged a good friend of hers, asking to meet her in the ONB training room. The friend that Serix messaged was a navi named Kajira. Serix and Kajira had worked together a few times in the past, and Serix had developed a particular fondness for her friend. However, due to her usual gruff persona, she didn't quite know how to explain what she felt. However, seeing as how the two navis were of close to equal strength, Serix hoped to relay the message in the only way that she knew how to. That method was, naturally, to use her fists to express herself.
"It's been a long time since I've seen Kajira. I wonder if she remembers me."
Serix had disconnected from her PET for this. She didn't want her operator interrupting her. She paced back and forth in the large white room, biting her lip at times as she watched the door. This match would be an important event for her, and she had put a lot of planning into it. After all, it wasn't exactly an everyday occurrence for an unaffiliated navi to be allowed the use of an ONB facility.
"She might even be stronger than I am. Maybe I should have trained more."
To provide some back story, Serix hadn't seen Kajira in a few months, and when last they met, Kajira was the stronger of the two. Serix was strong in her convictions. However, she feared the possibility of disappointing her friend. Or worse, ruining her only true friendship. This was why she wanted to use her fists instead of her words.

Kajra.exe | Intro Post One
Kajira moved languidly through the ONB facility. She had been here enough times that she basically knew where everything was and walked with that same self-assured confidence that she had no matter where she was going, and regardless of whether or not she was actually confident or not. Thankfully here, she knew exactly where she was going and what she was getting into. Or at least, she had a bit of an idea of what she was getting into. Serix was a friend of hers from a bit ago- the woman ruling fire just as well as Kajira ruled lightning. They were similar in their approaches to some things, but also very different in their approaches to others. It had been quite awhile since Kajira had last seen her friend, and she was quite curious what the sudden invitation was for. All of these...boundaries and things that had been put into place recently had set everyone on edge. Given that Serix used to be ONB though, it wasn't that big of a surprise that they'd allow her to use the training room. After all, they had full permission to record her and seeing Serix in action was a good spot to get some really good combat data. The door opened a moment later, with Kajira smirking as she saw the blond woman. "Hey you. Long time no see," she spoke, moving forward as the door closed behind her. "So what's on your mind? Just a bit of training? Decide to join back up with the ONB? Or just couldn't resist my pretty face?" the woman asked, fixing Serix with a smirk. Being crafted by a hormone-ridden teenage boy had its perks, she supposed, especially considering she didn't need to even bother to brush her hair or anything of the sort- it always fell exactly in the way that she wanted it to. Lightning danced up her arm, releasing the small sound of sparks much like static electricity as she watched the fire-wielder. Lately, Kajira had been having some...serious issues in controlling the electricity exactly how she'd wanted it. If it was training, maybe she'd get a bit of a handle on it. As the doors opened, and Kajira stepped into the training room, Serix let out an audible "meep" and rushed over to hug her. Serix held her friend close as she spoke to her.
"It's been far too long, love~"
Serix blushed after realizing that she had been hugging Kajira for a duration of time that some might call uncomfortably long.
"Sorry, it's just.... It's been a while, and I'm just happy that you're here. As for why I called you here, let's just say that I don't want to ruin the surprise just yet."
Serix still wasn't exactly comfortable about talking about her emotions. So instead she walked over to a display and set it up for a club setting. However the club was empty save for a double wide arcade system with two directional pressure pads.
"Let's see if you can keep up."
As Serix said so, she stepped into the center of the right pressure pad, and waved for Kajira to join her on the left as she selected a song. Serix had become flustered, so she missed a few movements here and there.

Kajira blinked a little as Serix rushed over to her and embraced her in a hug. That was decidedly not the rough-and-tumble Serix that she was used to dealing with, and so it caught her off-guard. So much so, that she actually missed what Serix said during the embrace. "Uh...Serix?" she began, before it seemed like the other female navi realized that the hug had gone on perhaps a bit too long and released her. As the woman explained herself, a flicker of a smile moved over Kajira's face. "It has definitely been too long," she spoke, nodding along in agreement. She did enjoy Serix's company, finding the exciteable (and often aggressive) woman to be an outlet of sorts for Kajira's own passive demeanor. It was generally a fairly good time along with her, even if she had no longer worked with the ONB. Not that it was a problem- they just tended to meet up less due to no longer sharing the same working environment. "Surprise?" the woman asked, arching a brow. The electricity faded from her arm. She had expected a sort of duel or something busting some viruses. But a surprise? Kajira wasn't sure she was ready for that. And then Serix did something that Kajira would never have really expected, and saw it now setup for what looked like a...dancing program? She had no idea what this was. Kajira wasn't exactly one that had...fun. "Uh. Okay?" the woman asked, entirely lost as to what was going on here, but she did move to step up onto the left platform as indicated. She stepped a few times to select things, but Kajira didn't much listen to music. Or play games. So this concept was completely foreign to her. "Uh. I guess this one."

"So....How have things been?" Serix asked casually as she selected her next song. She danced as she spoke, focusing on the screen more than her words.
"I worry about you. I've considered joining the ONB again, just so that I don't have to travel so far. If I do, I'd like to work with you."
Serix got flustered and just stood in the middle of the pad for the rest of the song once she realized what she had said.
"I mean.... I....That is......"
She was unable to form a coherent statement and looked away for a while.
"Listen, I.....I don't really know how to say this....So try to bear with me, alright."
After Serix collected her thoughts, she spoke up again.
"You're a good friend. The only one that I have, actually. And, you're the only person I can trust. So I'm trusting you with my heart."
Serix still looked away, hiding how red her face was, and the stream of tears running from each eye.
"I'm sorry if that sounds wierd....Or if you don't feel the same. I just had to say it, so that I wouldn't have to worry about not saying it."

Kajra.exe | Battle Post Two
"Busy, mostly," Kajira responded as the song ended with her abysmal score. She didn't quite...get what this was. Some sort of training exercise in movement? In eye-foot coordination? She didn't quite know what Serix was getting after. She paused slightly then as the woman indicated that she had been worried about Kajira. "Worried about me? I've been fine, Serix. I've put down a few criminals lately too," she murmured, mostly recalling her fight with the one calling himself Joker. The man had found her appearance a little lacking, it had seemed, and so Kajira had given him an electric touch that he would remember for aeons.
"You don't have to join up with the NeONB again if you don't really want to. I still don't technically work for them, though Blake's been pushing me to do so. He wants to join up with them officially and work with his dad, so it's been a not-so-subtle push from him. But if you're still doing mercenary work, just sub-contract through them. They're short on hands so they're willing to pay for people who can get things done for their own folks that...can't," she offered, even as she moved to select another song on a whim. She hadn't ever listened to...any of this before.
She seemd to miss the stumbling over her words as she paused, looking at the song for a moment before a small shrug followed the selection. She glanced back at Serix again as the woman began to speak, seeming to just...open up.
Kajira was a little off-put. Not in a negative way, but mostly because this wasn't the same as the Serix that she had known for the last few years. The woman had always been rowdy and aggressive and loud and fun and seeing her like this was mostly confusing to Lady Lightning. So much so that the notes had simply gone by her and she hadn't even paid attention to them. "You're a close friend to me, Serix. We've had our differences but we've always had one another's backs. That's what friends are for, right?" She couldn't agree that Serix was her only friend- she had friends in Xion, of course, and then a few of the ONB agents that she'd spoken with and worked closely with over the years. She had a friendly rivalry (or so she saw it) with both Syn and Astrapos, though lately she hadn't seen either of them on the Net.
Granted, Kajira was somewhat missing the point of the confession. "If you'd like, I can pass the information over to Sara, or Blake can, about going through the sub-contracting thing. We could totally work together," she offered, turning her eyes back to the screen to note that it was on a failure screen.

Battle Post 3
"You know, I might have to take you up on that."
Serix was fairly certain that Kajira didn't quite understand her, so she would probably need to be more direct, if she wanted to get her point across.
"Listen, Kajira. I... Listen... This isn't exactly easy for me to say."
After a few moments, she turned to Kajira, looking directly into her eyes.
"I...Uh...What are you doing tomorrow? Wait, no, that's not what I meant. It's just, this is new for me. I'm not used to opening up like this. I just...I LIKE YOU, ALRIGHT?!"
Serix turned away again. This time, she hadn't even bothered to select a song, and she wasn't exactly in a mood to.
"Like I said, this isn't exactly easy for me, so I can understand that it might be unexpected. I just felt that I should tell you. Again, I'm sorry if that's weird. It just needed to be said."
Serix was crying once more, with steam rising from her face. It wasn't because she was sad. Because she wasn't. It was because she didn't think that she would have to spell it out for Kajira.
"You can be so dumb sometimes, I swear."

Kajra.exe | Battle Post Three
"That would be a lot of fun," Kajira agreed. Having someone that she trusted in her corner would be helpful. There were a number of times where she didn't have quite enough firepower, and Serix brought that in droves. It was something that she was going to have to look forward to, just to see if she could handle that sort of responsibility. Collateral damage was also up Serix's alley, and that would need to stop if she was teamed up with Kajira. It'd also give Blake a friend to tlak to that was as into NetBattling as he was.
However, Kajira glanced back at the screen for a moment, looking at the songs before she heard Serix speak again, and looked back only to have the woman be staring directly into her eyes. "O...kay?" she responded, not quite sure what the woman was going to say or reveal here. Seeing Serix as flustered as she was- it was equal parts cute and worrying, but for Kajira, mostly the latter.
Then Serix gave her announcement, wide out and in the open, and just let it hang there for a moment while Kajira's own mind went through a mild BSOD as she tried to process that. Serix continued to speak, before Kajira tried to register words. Blake was being mysteriously quiet too, which meant he was either away or he was watching with amusement. She didn't really know which.
"U-uh," she began, not quite what to say at the moment, before Serix called her dumb. "Hey! I am not dumb," the woman responded, electricity inadvertently darting up her arm in her sudden irritation. "I just don't really...think about things like that a lot. Nothing wrong with you, it's just something that I don't really...do much of. I'm flattered, though," she continued, not wanting to just rain all over Serix's parade.
But it was true. Kajira's NetOP had mostly just utilized a NormalNavi personality cortex with a few tweaks on it to give Kajira the mindset that she'd had, and it had grown from her friendships with Serix and Xion into what she was today. But even still, romance and relationships and all that...the whole courting process...none of that really clicked with Kajira, very well. She found allies and partnerships, and had people that she relied on...but she had never once considered about things going any further than that, with anyone. Namkcab had been the first to show an interest in Kajira, and since then, there had been others, but none quite so emphatically as Serix had.
It was flattering but...Kajira didn't know what to even do with that information.

"Okay, you're right. You're not dumb. You can be a little dense sometimes, but you're not dumb. I just....I didn't know how else to say it. I'm not used to being open. I'm supposed to be the one that blows things up, and yells at people, and beats the crap out of people. I'm still new to all this feelings stuff. All I really know, is...."
Serix took a moment to compose herself before she turned around to face Kajira.
"When I'm around you, I'm not afraid to be my old self. The me from before all the fighting. The me that was just a simple flirty girl, working a net casino. That was the real me. The fighting, and yelling, and all the stuff I do out there, that's just how I keep people out. That's how I keep myself from getting hurt again. I just feel like I can trust you to let me be myself again. I'm not expecting you to say anything right away. To be honest, I'd like you to take some time, and think about it for a while. Take as long as you need. Just, let me know some day. I mean, we can still be friends for now, right? To be honest, I was afraid of telling you. I wasn't really sure how you would respond, and I really don't want to lose my only friend. But, I will accept your decision, whatever you decide."
After saying all of that, Serix turned off the program, and set up a park environment. She sat on a nearby bench as she waited for her face to cool down from the rosy pink that it was. This was a big step for her. She hadn't been this open with anyone since Jin. In a way, this was another step to letting go of him.

Kajra.exe | Battle Post Four
Kajira listened in relative silence at the moment. She could hear the words that Serix was speaking and understood their meaning, but that meaning was still mostly lost on the woman. "That's kind of what I'd come to expect yeah," she responded with a small, sideways incline of her head as she considered the woman's words. The silver tresses simply hung in the air as she watched the fiery woman, trying to follow along with her and keep up with the emotions that were pouring out of her like a waterfall.
Kajira, too, wasn't used to dealing with emotions. It wasn't how she handled things. She kept everything buried deep down inside and didn't bother to let it out at any point unless she had to. Most times, she didn't. Every once in awhile, it overflowed and she was forced to confront them or deal with them in some other way, which often led to virus busting.
As Serix continued, the woman frowned, listening. She knew that Serix did used to be a casino girl, but that was long before the two of them had started any sort of friendship together. By the time that Kajira and Serix had their first run-ins, working togther on some ONB cases, the crass, loud woman that Kajira had learned to call friend had been the only one that she had known of. This other side of her was catching Kajira off-guard and worse, she didn't quite know how to follow with it.
"Of course we can still be friends- I don't think I'd have it any other way," she responded, not wanting to lose Serix as a friend. "But...yes. I'm going to need some time to really think about all of this. I don't really think I could make a decision on anything today, even if I needed to. This is a lot to take in," the woman spoke, still struggling to just...come to terms with everything Serix was throwing at her.
Things began to change then, when the game simulator began to vanish, replaced by a gentle park scene. Kajira glanced up then at the trees, before her gaze flickered around to Serix. "So what brought all of this...on then?" the woman asked, mostly just wanting to learn more about this type of feeling from the woman and how it had come to be.

Battle Post 5
"This is sort of a long story. I mean, yes, at first, I was just joking around with you, as I'm sure that you were doing. But, after a while... After the first few missions that we were assigned to together, I started to admire you. And, after some time after that, I began to develop genuine feelings for you. I just didn't know how to express them properly. Eventually I resigned myself to the idea that I had to at least match your level of capabilities before I said anything about it. That way, if things didn't pan out, I would know that it didn't have anything to do with my ability to handle myself or protect others. Not to say that I ever considered you to be that shallow. I was just insecure at the time. And now, now that we've been able to fight alongside one another without me being a hindrance of any sort, I felt like it was the time to say something."
After taking a moment to think about the long winded speech that she had just given, Serix realized that it would take Kajira a while to process it all.
"What can I say? I used to idolize the way that you could handle your missions with so much confidence. And what started as respect evolved into something else."
By the time she finished, Serix's face was completely flushed, and she had pulled the bill of her military type hat down to hide it as she remained seated on the bench.

Kajra.exe | Battle Post Five
There was a lot here. This had obviously been building up for a long while in Serix and Kajira couldn't help to feel like her not noticing it in the fiery woman had made her something of a bad friend. She knew that it was just those thoughts that didn't have any real grounding in anything. Things that would come to mind and make you feel like less of someone. Things that Kajira generally just avoided and hid behind her mask of confidence. But right now, despite herself, that was the only real thought on her mind.
As Serix continued, Kajira couldn't help but to smile a bit. That sounded exactly like her. She wanted to make sure that she was goign to be up to snuff before she did anything. It explained the hours she'd spent in the ONB simulators to train, which is what Kajira had thought this might end up being. The woman was always looking ahead with her goals in mind. That, to Kajira, was a little bit more admirable than her own method which was to keep her head down and do her job, and not ask questions. She got far doing it, but there was a lot of emptiness in that sort of lifestyle.
"Well like I said, I'm flattered. I just don't know how to deal with this sort of thing. Programmed to be mission-oriented and not a lot has changed from those days. It's hard to explain. I know that we're friends, and I am certain that there's more to it than that, but I don't know how to express or come to terms with those types of thoughts. They feel both unnecessary, but also like they're something I should fully have, understand and utilize. I know that I have emotions in that vein for Blake," she spoke, referring to her NetOP. "He's both a father and a little brother to me at the same time. That connection goes a lot deeper than just being friends."
She shook her head, before exhaling. The woman's hand moved, pushing a few strands from her face as she looked over at the quite-embarrassed Serix. The poor woman looked like she was struggling not to burst into flames there on the spot, her face was so warm. "But let's not focus on that, at least not right now. I'd rather our friendship not stagnate while I struggle with these differences of opinion that are going on in my head. Why don't we pick up where we left off on that...rhythm game? Or something else?" the woman offered, her arms folded behind her back.
