The endless and glorious beauty of Element City; a sight to behold for any sentient being capable of true appreciation, be it the digital perception of a Navi or the organic viewpoint of a Human. With its beautiful porcelain buildings, its remarkable merging with the natural world, or its sprawling, endless waterways. None could possibly disagree that the entire concept was born in pure genius. Endlessly flawless, endlessly timeless and unchanging.
....until today.
On the outer banks of one of the sprawling parks of Element City, the sun itself is blotted out with awe-inspiring majesty. Rising from the very foundation of the earth below, a strange, rectangular structure with a shining, obsidian finish rises to the heavens above with frightening splendor. Its very appearance is vastly different than all structures which surround it, as if a shadow cast across a pure white canvas. The foreboding and almost otherworldly structure rises to the sky above in stark and stubborn silence as a group of Navis kneel at its base.
What could it mean? Was it a sign? Why was it here?
The answers failed to come, almost as though the intensely silent structure hides them behind its shadowed visage. Some feel the structure in curiosity and attempt to understand it, others cower feet away in fear, while still others stand atop a nearby hill and warn against its presence. However, all fail to grasp the structure's true and deepest secrets and hidden meaning.
?: ....this... this is...
With arms crossed and a hand on his chin, a Navi apart from the group looks on with a disturbed look on his face. All that he could see was... unlike it had been mere hours before.
?: ...different.

Word travels fast on the net, so when something major happens in a metropolitan area even with the limited bandwidth between countries and little communication between the major powers, the whole world knew when something was going on. Part of that world was a winged navi clad in golden armor, a crimson cloth draped over his right shoulder where no arm hung. Phenoix.EXE always took an interest in strange occurrences. He had taken part in a number of the events that lead to their current state, so it was both a hobby and personal duty to check into anything exceptional or odd showing up. Usually, stuff like this was a bad omen, and given how large this structure was, it was very likely for it to lead to something dangerous for Electopia, or the world again. Flying around the structure on his way down, it looked vaguely similar to the tower Eon erected after destroying Electopia, though much cleaner. Somehow without all the spikes and blades it looked even more imposing.
As his circle brought him closer to the ground, he could see the various navis reacting to it in their own ways. Those that cower in fear looked almost the same as those worshiping it, those with more inquisitive minds reached out to touch it, though it did not seem to hurt them. At least it seemed to be docile for the time being. Buildings like this, especially ones that show up out of nowhere, always have a purpose, and rarely is it one that is truly good for the world. Seeing others directing main traffic away from it, Phenoix scanned the groups, looking for a place to land without too many others. Away from the main group, a lone navi stood seemingly pondering the structure. A good a place as any to land, mostly clear as well. With a slight breeze he landed nearby the other navi, his wings folding behind him as he put his hand on his hip, looking up and down at the structure.
But Phenoix had already spent plenty of time overviewing it, it was basically just a formality so he didn't set down and instantly bother this other navi. After a little time in thought, Phenoix tried to strike up conversation with this navi away from the group, see if he had any information from when it came up.
"Excuse me Sir. Did you see this structure as it appeared? I heard it was rather recently but didn't get to see it myself. They say it just rose out of the ground."

The Navi turns to Phenoix and looks the holy Navi over before gesturing to the odd structure with a nod of his head.
?: Oh, that thing? Made it last night.
The Navi then looks around, still obviously wondering about something...
?: But y'know, it feels different now; almost like my doing this was a real focus this time, and not just a part of the bigger picture. Not sure how to feel about that.
The Navi scratches his head and raises an eyebrow, trying to reason this out...

Phenoix's feathers stood up ever so slightly. This navi made this thing, and while displays of power are not uncommon, they are usually made by ones that want to be known. That was what put the winged navi on edge, this one seemed content to just be nearby without openly taking credit for the action. The navi's frankness was also concerning, being vague but seemingly not intentionally, as if Phenoix should know about something he didn't. The significance behind this at least seemed to be greater than just a singular incident, and somehow it worried Phenoix. If anything else major happens that has an effect on the net or its interaction with the human world, things could get even worse now than now.
"Not a fan of being in the spotlight? You certainly caused quite a stir making this so suddenly. Did your group fill out the proper zoning forms for erecting a structure of this size so close to a leisure area?"
Even on the net you couldn't just do what you wanted as far as space was concerned. There were procedures to be followed. While structural damage due to combat scenarios are relatively common, fixing a building is much easier than fitting a new one in. Plus, Phenoix couldn't shake the feeling this was something more sinister than just an unplanned project. Especially considering this one might be a distraction for others.

Not picking up on Phenoix' suspicions, the Navi continues to scratch his head and look on, trying to figure out what exactly is different about this entire scenario. Though no matter how he looks at it, the exact answer escapes him.
?: Nah, 'ole freezie and I go way back. He won't care if I make a monument to my ego in the middle of one of his cities. Though....
Without even looking at Phenoix, the Navi raises an arm and holds up a small black box that looks almost identical to the sinister monolith standing just yards away, save a single red button affixed to it
?: If you don't like it, I can just make the thing explode.
Despite the dire nature of the statement, the Navi appears entirely unphased by the entire situation.
