Bayside
Nestled beside the Forest Network to the west of Element city, the beautiful aqua city of Bayside stands tall. Buildings of glass, with various water attractions and aqua affinity symbolizes the stature and luxury of this city. Located on the edge of the digital continent, Bayside sits on prime beach land, with enough room for a harbor into a immense sea of data as well as civilian beach space. In the center of town stands one of the largest water fountains on the net, optimized for entertainment. A building nearby is outfitted with a water slide leading into the massive fountain, allowing navis to use the stairs or other methods to get to the top and enjoy a ride down circling the whole building. Other attractions include Electopia's largest aquarium. Sitting opposite the harbor, the Bayside Aquarium is a tribute to human discovery of the ocean, even featuring tunnels spanning under the sea for navis unable to breath underwater to see the marvels of the ocean. Many navis work at the port or boat dock in town. Buildings and roads even have pathways for navis to travel by boat or jet-ski, including floating rivers unique to the area that allow navis to travel across the tops of buildings! Those that work in the offices help either monitor or work for the water plant that sits in the middle of Bayside, supplying Bayside and Element City its own brand of water based energy.

OOC: This story is a continuation of what was happening before the story update.
As the blaring noise made itself known on the other side of the park, Esperanza felt a rush of adrenaline circulate through her body rapidly. She tighten her grasp on the Persian Craine's handle that was twirling between her fingers earlier, as her eyes widen from pure euphoria at the thought of possibly being caught in the middle of a physical confrontation. When Kajira gave the word to move, Esperanza followed hastily behind her as a crowd of navi congested the area.
They had ran several meters as a mysterious pillar of flames descended from the air above them, which streamed down not far from their position. A navi, which appears to be wearing millitary-issued uniform, exited from it and began to say something to them. But Mal's attention was heavily focused on reaching their destination as soon as possible. She did not yield to the greetings, even as the navi extended her arm out. Mal ran passed her merely because the situation at hand has overwritten her better sense of character.

The Navi's hand undulated before him, as if it weren't even real, though he knew very much that it was. His entire form was something amidst the things of a waking nightmare. What seemed to be a suit of the purest white covered his form, but it covered all of him, face included. There was not a single feature of his own that were present. What were present, however, were the faces that pressed up and out against that body, giving muffled scream. Quiet enough that the normal passersby wouldn't even notice them, but loud enough that if you were listening for them- they were deafening.
"I've got to get away from here," he spoke, mostly to himself, though his own voice was both ear-splittingly loud next to the screams that billowed from his form as well as completely overshadowed by them at the same time. ANyone that drew close would seem to get one or the other. He blinked, or at least, thought he had. It was a reflex that was somewhere deep inside, but at the same time, there wasn't anything for him to blink. His face was featureless. Or was it? An eye began to form in the center of his chest, and he blinked that, almost for the sense of familiarity, before, like a spreading rash, the eyes began to open on his arms, his legs, his face and head in all manner of directions, over-stimulating his ability to process data, earning yet another scream, though this one was not muffled. This one came from deep within him, and as such, it echoed.
The scream itself radiated outward from deep within him, only for him to pause, and realize that he wasn't screaming. Nor did he have eyes decorating his entire body. He was standing in an alleyway, still staring at his hand. Had he imagined it all? Had it happened and then...unwritten itself? He didn't know, but he could hear footsteps fast approaching. The figure moved, driven by little more than instinct as he set a hand on the near wall. Immediately, like a chameleon, his flesh began to take on its appearance, but it didn't stop there as he began to take on the property of the building as well, before his own form began to meld into the well-maintained brick.
Darkness.
He couldn't see, like this. He couldn't move. It felt claustrophobic. It felt awful. He needed to move. He needed to see.
For Esperanza, would she come to the alleyway, she would see nothing down it, but there would be the sensation that there was something there. She wouldn't be able to pick up anything, but if she lingered for too long, a singular, large eye would begin to open on the right wall of the building. It would belong, and at the same time, it would not belong. There wasn't any anomalous data, but it very clearly should not be this way.

*He was making his move at least. Couldn't waste time mulling over lost things forever. He had picked up one of the four things he needed. That left the other three. That was what brought him to Electopia. He was considering two places to visit: the super annoying one or the not as annoying one. He knew more than enough about one and actually not enough about the other. So that was what made him make his decision. As he walked around the city, it was hard to miss the explosion from a building he was considering searching in a similar fashion. So he took to scaling a building first, slamming one of his claws into it before he scaled it deftly in one swift motion. Once Xion reached the top, he started to head toward the area from his angle. Seeing the building didn't help him spot who beat him to the punch. He was using both eyes and ears to look out for or listen in on anything that was more alarming than the explosion itself. And that was when the deafening scream hit him, crimson orbs narrowing ever so slightly to show his own discomfort.*
"I don't care if you're in a bad mood. No one should scream that loud unless they're being destroyed or something else besides whatever caused this one."
*It narrowed his search down at least, crossing another building or two to land above the alleyway. But he didn't see anyone down there when he arrived. But he was certain the noise came from here. He was at an angle where he couldn't see the eye either, so he sat down in wait instead and pondered about it instead. See if anyone else happened upon the same spot as he was to confirm he wasn't entirely crazy.*

The explosion of sparks and other sounds drew Kajira, the woman moving just a hair behind Esperanza, the two women darting forward toward the source of what was impending. Whatever it was, she didn't quite know...and it wasn't something that she was really interested /in/ knowing. She had been hired in for a job and she would complete that job, no matter the cost. However, as her feet carried her lightly over the ground, the sky above began to darken and the woman paused slightly. Before her, a column of flame descended from the heavens and then was replaced by a Navi. She blinked, cocking her head to the side for a moment, trying to place this one. She had seen her before, fought both with her and against her, but it wasn't until the Navi gave her name that she recalled the fight out in the rain in the park that day. "Serix? What are you...wait, you're not ONB anymore?" the woman asked, trying to take in everything all in one fell swoop. Well, this was unexpected. Even so, Serix was good in a fight, she knew, and if whatever this was held a bit more power than she realized, then it wouldn't hurt to have two people for backup instead of just one, even as she watched the other woman dash pash in an almost frenzied excitement toward whatever had happened. "I'm not sure what brought you here, but you've got good timing," the woman said, moving to set a hand on her hip in a way that she hoped didn't come off as jerky- but that was kind of how Kajira always came off. "I'm tracking a Navi that the ONB is having some difficulty with. If you've got time to burn...why not help out an old friend?" she asked, giving a small smirk to the woman before she began to sashay a bit toward where Esperanza was heading, leaving Serix to decide what to do- follow or not. ========== church

Following the other two, it didn't take long to catch up.
"After everything that happened in Element City, I had to take some time to think things over. Haven't figured out much, except that I need to get stronger while maintaining a karmic balance of sorts. So, all things considered, I guess you can call me something of a mercenary these days."
She spoke with Kajira as she moved. Though she hoped to find what they were looking for, soon. Upon arriving at the destination, Serix noted something of a familiar face. Xion.
"Oh. You're here."
She said this in something of a monotone with a deadpan look on her face.
"Well, may as well make yourself useful. We're looking for the source of that odd screaming sound you've no doubt heard."
Serix looked around for any trace of something that should not be in this area. She didn't want to leave anything to chance.

A six foot by four foot pop-up window spontaneously appears in front of Kajira displaying an ad for catfood, featuring a particularly "grumpy" looking cat.

As Esperanza ran further ahead of Kajira and Serix, she passed several surrounding edifice unto she ended up entering an alleyway. That noise from earlier sounded like it came somewhere nearby this area, she thought to herself. She took the moment to regain her breath back, but realized in that instance that she totally forgot all about Kajira and whoever it was that appeared from the pillar of fire. Esperanza walked over to the nearest wall in the alley and slammed her Persian Crane to the floor beneath her, piercing through the asphalt in the process, as she casually sat down on a dirty patch on the ground without hesitation.
While she sat with arms crossed, waiting for the others, Esperanza felt a sudden change in the atmosphere. She couldn't really explain in words, but there was something off, a weird feeling that was pestering her like a lingering itch that cannot be easily scratched. She then turned her line of sight to examine the far end of the alleyway, and before Esperanza had the chance to spot the pair of large eyes glistening, her head rapidly whipped the other way when she heard, "Oh. You're here... Well, may as well make yourself useful. We're looking for the source of that odd screaming sound you've no doubt heard...." Who the hell she's even talking to?, she muttered confusingly to herself. Not knowing that there was another navi who arrived before her who was standing atop one of the buildings.
Esperanza then stood up and grahbed her Persian Craine that was on the ground and turned her body towards where she entered, waiting for Kajira to catch up with the rest. Perhaps they only ran to a dead end, forgetting about the strange feeling she felt seconds ago.

There was talking.
Words of many kinds, from many navi, reached its ears. His ears. Their ears. He didn't know.
But he could sense that they were speaking, though not a single one was addressing him directly. That was good. He didn't know how to respond. He didn't think that he could respond, as he was right now. Within the building, he was something more. He could feel his arms, no they were wings of the building. Did he have wings? Could he fly?
Above the building, and above the navi gathered around, a small cloud of feathers seemingly appeared from nowhere, beginning to flutter down around them.
No. No he couldn't fly. He was grounded. Fortified. Strong as brick and steel.
The feathers above, for those that hadn't yet hit the ground shuddered, their data shifting before a rain of bricks, nails and such began to fall upon those gathered nearby.
Would they see him? Could they hear him? Should they touch him? Might they smell him? What if they tasted him?
He had to move. He had to get out of here. With so many nearby he could be discovered. They would take him back to the labs. He wouldn't go back there. He had to make sure that he never went back.
But so far they hadn't seen him. Could he stay safely here? Would they see him? Could they hear him?
Should they touch him?
Might they smell him?
To those nearby, the large building, appearing to be some sort of shopping emporium, almost shifted, as if there was an earthquake of a sort. Almost as if there was some sort of danger that had threatened everything but there had been so such tremor. Just a movement of the building itself. Did it even happen? Or did each of them independently imagine this, unknowing that others around them shared the same delusion?

*He remained seated, not noticing that Serix had actually addressed him. In fact it only occurred to him as he watched the scene below a bit better and then realized that one, the punk rocker, looked confused. So he stood back up and looked toward the monotonous one. He could stay quiet, but she had kindly asked him to lend a helping hand for this situation, right? It was the right thing to do.*
"Why? Do I even know you?"
*Because he honestly could not recall her. There were a few faces he knew of, but maybe he could narrow it down if he went by his incident cases. If it was something he fought before they probably wouldn't have said anything of the sorts. That narrowed it down to being one of the cases he got caught in the crossfire of something. And in recent times he had done good at avoiding that since the whole Creamland... ah. Well there was that time at Element City.*
"Because you're not ringing any bells right now."
*He recalled a few folks there. Namely, parts of the ONB and that collateral damage girl. If there was anyone else he would need more details to remember them. Iria, Beetle Borg, Mrs. Destructive, and GlassMan. Four folks he recalled in that whole thing with Vile. ...Oh, wait. There 'was' someone else flailing about then too. Was that this kid here?*
"Or were you that punching bag who had to watch everything fall apart before they got torn apart? Then again, suppose you wouldn't be here if you were."
*Far as he knew that guy got cleaved apart and was gone after that. Other than that, this one knew him yet he did not recall her. What a strange feeling this was since he was used to the reverse. More interesting to him was that Kajira was here. Well that was a plus for this whole thing. Not like he could pretend he wasn't here now. But it didn't change what he planned to do right now anyway in seeing what the source of the annoying noise could do. If they showed up to do that, that was just fine too. But he would do greetings and then possibly climb down from here.*
"And why hello there--...huh."
*And then there were feathers. He didn't see any birds though, watching some touch the ground. And then it turned into a brick and he immediately questioned if his eyes were working right. Had to be: a brick hit him in the head. And some nails on top of it. That was mildly unpleasant as his eyes narrowed and he moved to get aside from it just so it wouldn't keep being bothersome. But rather than being annoyed like his normal response would be, his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Intriguing. This was interesting to him. Was this his lucky break so soon? The earthquake was like the answer for that question, in his mind anyway. He never fancied himself as delusional, so he would accept the fact that the building moved, his eyes landing square on that shopping emporium as he was quickly measuring his courses of action and narrowing down which one he would perform first.*

Kajira gave a small nod toward Serix, the woman giving her abbreviated rendition of where she'd been since the last time they'd fought and it was a rather fair sort of situation. Having to keep one's emotions and whims in check while at the same time understanding that power was necessary was something that Kajira herself was going through, in a way. She had seen the black lightning dance up her thigh when she was running out of steam. She didn't quite know what it meant, but she did know what it portended. Blake didn't know, and she wasn't about to tell him either.
As she moved to follow Serix, a sudden image appeared before her, and the woman narrowed her brows, a rather cross expression marring her beautiful features. "Blake. Get a trace on this. Find out where the hell it's coming from." she growled, even as the ad itself terminated from her field of vision, no doubt an influence of Blake.
"What the hell did you even do?" the boy asked.
"Blake don't start with me," the woman hissed, earning silence on the boy's end as she moved to follow Serix toward where Esperanza already was, the fire navi seeming to be talking with someone else at the moment. Coming forward, she nodded to the pink-paletted woman. "It seems like something's started around here, right?" she spoke, indicating the terminal built into the wall which was now shorted out, sparks still sputtering from it now and again. The fact that the Net had its own subnet was something that Kajira understood but found completely stupid, in her own opinion.
She turned back toward Serix, about to ask who it was she was talking to, when the woman heard the voice, and she paused for a moment, her digital heart skipping a virtual beat as she realized who the voice belonged to. Xion was someone that she had met several times over the course of her lifetime, the man having subtly, or perhaps not-so-subtly, guiding her to think about things outside of the frame of reference that Blake had set for her. Her view of the world, the Net, and all that was in between had definitely changed due to his influence alone.
Now that he was here, she didn't quite know what she was going to say. She had made scripts in her head to speak to him with, if she had ever seen him again, but now that he was here, she didn't quite know what /to/ say. It was almost a surreal experience for her as she took a step to the side, looking up at him as feathers began to descend from on high. The woman didn't even stop to consider what the feathers were or why they were even there...until before her very eyes, one of them changed to a nail. She glanced upward then, giving a small curse as she saw a small storm of bricks and nails falling from above them.
Cackling electricity appeared overhead, thankfully protecting her from what was following, but then the building they were all standing near gave a small shudder. She blinked, her gaze drifting over toward it. Had that just...moved? "Everyone okay?" the woman called, not addressing Xion directly...yet. She had her mission, first.

As the downpour of nails and bricks started, Serix instinctively took a knee, and formed a shield of flame on her arm, which she then raised above her head. Lowering it only once the onslaught ended, she first responded to Kajira.
"Yeah, I'm good. Takes a bit more than bricks and nails to take me out."
Taking note that the building had shifted a bit, Serix began to move closer to it.
"Anyone else think I should burn this building down?"
Behind her back, she made a sort of motion with one hand that, if the others picked up on it, meant to play along. With the other, she created and held onto a bright orange ball of fire. Her face was contorted into something of an insane smile as she spoke. The prospect of burning something, be it a building, or another Navi, excited her a little.
"I really want to burn it. So, if anyone is in there, they should come out before they get roasted like a holiday ham."

Another 6x4 pop-up appears before Kajira, this one offering incredible discounts on dark chips from something called Net-Canada.

Esperanza nodded her head in response to Kajira's question. "This place does seem to be the point of origin." Before she could examine the area thoroughly with the rest of the group, she heard an extra voice speak from above. She looked up and saw a stranger who was hanging around on top of a building . So he's the one that girl was talking to.. Perhaps he was the one causing all the ruckus?, Mal thought to herself.
She turned her head towards Kajira to gain some insight, but began to think it was probably the contrary. Kajira seemed more calm than on the alert. Perhaps she knows him.. a friend, an ally? Who knows? At the time being, he doesn't appear to be the culprit they're looking for.
But as the stranger began to descend, many debris fell from what seems to be from no where. Esperanza stood her place as the data of feathers fell from above as they shifted into various bricks, nails and other materials. One of those bricks landing forcefully on her right shoulder and, as a result, leaving a mark. She looked over for a moment at the wound, but a couple of seconds later the damage healed completely as if nothing happened to her. I'll be fine. Don't you worry about me, she said to Kajira with sly smile.
Suddenly, Esperanza's smile became stern and her body tensed up when the other female navi jokingly gaved her remark. Miniature versions of her Persian Craine surrounded Mal, circling rapidly around her in a diagonal formation. Their aura glowing with a pink hue, similar to her own hair color. Esperanza hold unto her waist before responding to Serix, If I read a burning index above 0%, especially when we're right next to an emporium, I'll make sure one of these knives head towards you as well!" She then performed a butterfly kick after her somewhat threatening response to the other female navi. Esperanza kicked a knife about a dozen knives towards a mysterious being that has been trying to camouflage his way to safety undetected. Her knives barely missing the navi, but alerting both the group and the mysterious navi about eachothers presence.

He heard the woman call, asking if everyone was okay. Was he okay? He didn't know if he was okay or not. He didn't feel okay. He felt like he was...petrified. Not frightened, per se...but he was made of stone. As if it had been Medusa herself staring at him instead of a small gaggle of Navi. That was...unfortunate. He didn't want her to worry on his behalf. He was okay. Didn't need to be worried about.
However, there came a call from one of them then, regarding burning him. That was...not what he wanted. He didn't want to burn, alive or be cremated if he were dead. The building itself gave another small shudder then, as he tried to move, to get away. Did he need to move?
Then of course, came the knife.
He was still as a building, and had all the properties of it, now. The knife clanged uselessly against the wall, but even so, his eyes widened.
On the ouside of the building, after the knife had struck. An eye appeared, set into the wall as it opened. And then three more. And then another dozen. Hundreds of eyes decorated the exterior of the building, wide, staring out in all directions before the origin of the knife became known, followed by the one who had wanted to burn him. All of those hundreds of eyes turned, looking directly at Serix and Esperanza then.
Nothing happened, nothing change, nothing moved...but the sheer number of eyes staring at the two of them now likely seemed incredibly off-putting and confusing to the Navi gathered there.
He saw them, now. He saw all of them. There were so many gathered here. Were they here for him? He had already had to kill to save himself and he would not have any problem doing so again. If these four sought to do anything to him, he would destroy them. He was built to be insurmountable and he would make full use of that fact. He was NOT going back to the laboratories. Not again. He had escaped through the subnet, and he knew they were after him.
But were these four of them? Were they of the Animus Syndicate, or something else?
