"... ... ..."
It's difficult to tell which factor of this mess is more disappointing to... Nina, was it? Hard to even remember the woman's name through this throbbing haze, but one thing's for certain - somewhere between this vulgar display, wasting expensive premium liquor, and chickening out of a night of what she seems to consider 'fun', Max has offended his new acquaintance beyond words.
"Hmph. After a display like that, I don't think you have the privilege of refusing. Certainly not after wasting our finest product along with what was left of your dignity... besides, NetBattling is *below* me. I have a company to run, and I'd rather not waste the PET space with a Navi optimized for bloodsport rather than business."
A fancy and egotistical way of saying "I don't have a combat Navi".
"...And you have time to go *street racing* instead?" "Do NOT start this again now, Minerva, I'm not about t-" "SHH. Cut it out with the act, Nina, I've got this."
Completely unfazed by her sister's vicious, ready-to-explode demeanor, the younger sibling steps into the cone of luminescence shining from the streetlamp above, twirling her PET's trigger guard around her finger like a true showman. Nina's eyes suddenly widen behind her glasses...
"...You *didn't*..." "Sure did. The Vineyard Comp's on its maintenance cycle today, and she was bored." "Minerva, NO. The Master Unit is NOT a fighting Navi, do you have any idea wha-" "No, I'm pretty sure she is. I've been practicing a lot, what do you think I was doing at the Arcade this weekend?"
The faint sound of bones and tendons popping and cracking in Nina's clenched fists is the only sound that permeates the tense moment of silence that follows. The sisters lock eyes the whole time, clearly waging a subtle battle for dominance in this situation. Eventually...
"...Fine. You know what, this is perfect. You'll get your NetBattle after all - and you'll get to answer to the creator of the fine brew you've just wasted all over the street there." "Heheh... I hope your Navi can take a harder beating than your liver, mister!"

Maximillion could feel this stomach churning with all manner of alcohol and he was threatened to release everything again but he waited, panting heavily as he did so, listening to the older one, Nina he thought, as she berated him a little bit. He supposed he couldn't quite fault her for being upset- he was too busy struggling to keep himself from releasing everything in his stomach again, onto the floor. That would be the worst thing at this juncture, but he didn't know that he could stop himself from doing so a second time. At least until he heard that she though that battling was, in fact, below her. "My grandfather- urk- grandfather...he was a NetBattler. ANd he did it to the best of his ability. So don't be telling me that it's below you, or whatever," the man spoke, pointing a shaky finger at Nina.
However, thankfully any further talk from him was quiet ed then as the younger of the two, Minerva, had stepped up to the plate. He hadn't really counted on having to fight her- he had expected that it would be Nina that would want to sho him a thing or two. But in all honesty, it wasn't a bad idea for him to have to fight the younger. If he did fight the older, and win, there stood a good chance of Nina just breaking his legs if he did. He had seen what she'd done to the door, and the way that her tendons were popping in her hands were not something that he had expected to see...or hear, or even want to deal with. It was more than a little intimidating.
However, as Minerva had readied herself for the NEtbattle, Maximillion came to lean against the light pole, standing a bit again as he looked over at the younger girl. "Well, regardless of whether it's a combat navi or not, JewelMan really isn't either."
JewelMan.exe: I resent that wholly! I am a gallant warrior, Maximillion! How dare you suggest that I am anything less than this! I am quite ready to enter into combat with this other! Let me show you just how gallant I can be!"
Max gave a small sound then as he pulled out his own PET, a rather corporate-looking model. "All right. Ready when you are," he murmured to Minerva. He had no idea what was on the other side, but he was...very curious.

LampPostComp CyberSpace After what feels like an eternity, JewelMan now finds himself standing in a rather nondescript cyberspace comp area, a standardized layout for the lamppost network that now serves as tonight's battleground. His apparent foe stands opposite to him, across on the other side of the broad platform adrift in the mosaic void... a bog-standard HeelNavi, by the look of things. Standard saucer-shaped helmet, spiked shoulderpads, and bulky armor plating, all things characteristic of the industry-standard UnderNet Explorer model. And yet, something is off about all of this... for starters, that intense sensation of dreadful malevolence. An aura that JewelMan has felt before, and very recently at that...< ...Hoho. What a small world it is, to be seeing you again so soon! And this time, it's just the two of us...> ...Uh-oh.[Initiative Lv3. Rolling for turn order...]1-100

JewelMan.exe had given his words of bravado, but he truly had no idea what the opposing Navi would be. It could be several versions higher than he was, for all he knew. The ability for such a thing was very high, and the Navi was not one that had expected to see any such thing coming at him in the future. He knew that there were a number of Navi not nearly so good-natured as himself and he was loathe to cross one of them. As he paused, glancing around the lamppost network, he noted what seemed to be just a HeelNavi. He paused, frowning a bit before his four legs set forth at a walk, curious on if this was the foe. Judging from how the two women had talked, he didn't quite think so, but all the same it was curious to see what he was up against. Drawing closer however, he could sense that something was...off. And then when it spoke, he blinked, a frown covering his features.
"Pardon me, but...have we met?" the Navi asked, still slightly unprepared for battle. ((JewelMan has but Level One Init. Thrash gets the first move!))

If Maximillion has a microphone on his PET, then both he and JewelMan may hear a single, fateful phrase uttered from the other side of the fray..." ...No way! You were one of the guys at that Battle Royale!"
And if that wasn't enough to jumpstart JewelMan's memory, the form of the HeelNavi suddenly begins to writhe and shift, as if a host of a thousand insects is crawling beneath its outer carapace. Its entire body suddenly loses all color and tone, reverting to a simple mass of translucent purple that begins to take on a vaguely bestial shape. The only detail that JewelMan can make out is a single object drifting near the top of the mass - a familiar jagged metal mask, moulded in the shape of a serpentine face...< Hm... now, that IS disappointing. Perhaps I didn't leave enough of an impression the last time... oh well. No time like the present!> Booting Simple Battle Interface v0.06a

Maximillion, needing to communicate regularly with JewelMan on the job, does indeed have a Microphone installed. At Minerva's words, Maximillion blinked, recalling the four-way that he had drunkenly accepted an invitation to. That mean tthat their opponent was one of those other three. The defensive one...the offensive one...or the toxic one. Regardless, from what Max was viewing through the PET, the HeelNavi didn't seem to resemble any of those. "Keep on your toes," he murmured to the navi. "I have four sets, Maximillion- I am certain to be fine." he responded to his NetOP, even as he looked onward at the other as they began to...shift. To change. It was a strange sight for the navi who was very much accustomed to dealing with rather set-in-stone data, not ones like this that adjusted and changed themselves accordingly. Shock and confusion were rife through the navi as it suddenly lunged itself forward, caught in a snowstorm it seemed like.
The ground beneath him became covered in frost, and JewelMan frowned at the sudden advance of his foe. "That mask..." the navi pondered, even as his foe fell upon him. The attacks were savage, but JewelMan himself had simply pushed off the ground with one of his four limbs, skating about the arena as his foe chased him, while he tried desperately to mount an offense, before he finally raised his fist, a sapphire glow emanating from it before a jolt of electricity fired outward from it! =================== JewelMan Turn One ===================

Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Turn 2 - Thrash
Defense Phase
The creature's vicious assault catches JewelMan completely off-guard, leaving him only enough space to fire off a single attack... however, as the deadly bolt strikes the monster's outer membrane, a thick wave of pink-white mist seems to envelop its form, tendrils of electricity streaking outward into the surrounding air rather than focusing on their target. And as the haze clears, the beast is still coming, practically unscathed!
Haze Wall active! +75 Armor against one Attack! 1 Attack Slot sacrificed - an additional +75 Armor is granted against this Attack!
Thrash takes 65 damage from Topaz Arc!
[Thrash HP = 935/1000]
Support Phase
JewelMan's keen eyes may notice the monster's pace falter for a brief moment - like a wild animal suffering from hunger pangs, it stumbles and clutches its chest for a brief second in its mad sprint. This single moment of weakness passes quickly, and his foe is once again on the move, almost dancing upon the ice as it circles around its prey. It is clearly toying with JewelMan, forcing him to wear himself out evading its onslaught and denying him any chance to retaliate, all while maneuvering itself into a more advantageous position to strike from...

Attack Phase (8 AS - 5 Base, +2 from Slamdance, +1 from Daemon's Glare, -1 from Haze Wall)
And then, it begins anew - from a graceful if frenetic dance to a wild frenzy, JewelMan's adversary is upon him faster than the average Navi could possibly respond! From its gelatinous fingertips, jagged crystalline claws seem to sprout and morph from the creature's skin... and yet, the first thing that would reach JewelMan, before even those frightful blades, is a wave of chilling, toxic-smelling fog that suddenly explodes from a set of vents on the thing's armored shoulders, coating all that it touches in a layer of rigid crystal, helpless against whatever may come next!
Auto-Charge: Ultimate Impact Cannon "V" [1/1]

JewelMan could tell that his opponent, whatever it was, was not something that he had any real chance against in a normal fight. The beast's ferocity was impressive- that alone made it dangerous for him to try and fight against. The Navi was a rather honorable sort and due to that, he wasn't going to let this creature just walk atop him. Even so, it was difficult for him to continue to push the fight as it was...but he had little choice in the matter. He would have to fight to the best of his ability against this beast.
He paused, noting that it was...starving, almost. It was a strange sight to see- could it be that it was simply struggling to survive? Did it need to devour data to live? What a strange existence- one that JewelMan wasn't certain that he fully understood. In the Data mines, he was constantly kicking viruses out of his little home away from home...and yet this creature was among the same. Not quite a virus but something far more dangerous. Being that, it also seemed that the beast was hungry for more than just random bits of data- he was after JewelMan's. That was something he wasn't willing to chance.
But as soon as the pain passed it by, it was moving quicker, now. He didn't understand how, but somehow that need to feast made it all the more feral and quick to move. "This is preposterous. What manner of being are you?" he asked the other, even as it seemed that the claws were there again, ready to tear him to pieces. However, the main thing he noted first was the rush of fog that covered the area between them. Quickly he allowed the amethyst within him to make a make-shift barrier, hiding away from it as the fog clashed harmlessly against it...only for the ravenous beast's assault to claw into his form then, breaking off pieces of rock and gemstone.
Maximillion: Jewelman, are you okay?
"I'll be fine. Just a flesh wound," the Navi called out, despite the fact that he was...not having the best of luck, here. =================== JewelMan Turn One ===================

Simple Battle Interface v0.06a
Turn 3 - Thrash
Defense Phase
This time, the swirling mists that rise to meet JewelMan's strike takes a form he might be somewhat familiar with - a thin-but-sturdy Barrier, which his electric bolt clashes against audibly. For all its feral, almost primal nature and mannerisms, this beast still has the basic functions of any Net Navigator. As the charge disperses into the air, JewelMan hears the creature's bizarre, multi-toned voice... chuckling?
Ahahahaaa... I am simply a warrior seeking a proper battle. And how could I call it proper, if I did not devote all of my being to every blow?
Thrash activates Natural Barrier, dispersing Topaz Arc!
[Thrash HP = 935/1000]
Support Phase
The merciless onslaught has left severed bits of corrupt, damaged data strewn all about, like splattered blood and viscera... much of that data is now being drawn into the monster's body, its meager wounds closing almost instantaneously as it absorbs the detritus from the fight. JewelMan's guess wasn't too far off - this thing is a predator, built to hunt and slaughter, incentivised by its own all-consuming bloodlust. And yet, it seems to retain a fair deal of its senses, judging from its demeanor...
Daemon's Thirst resolves! Thrash takes 50 damage for an unsuccessful attack, but regenerates 200 HP for succesfully landing the rest!
[Thrash HP = 1000/1000]

Attack Phase (8 AS - 5 Base, +1 from Slamdance, +2 from Daemon's Glare)
Faster and faster, this sinister slimy serpent continues its frantic, frenetic maneuvers, taking every opportunity to trip up JewelMan's movements while taking advantage and striking at every misstep. There is a certain grace to its skating, whirling steps - nature's cruel and fierce design in fluid, brutal motion, a lethal dance that JewelMan finds himself an unwitting participant in. Despite its sheer ferocity, there is something almost... playful about this whole display. It is hard to shake the feeling that the monster is simply toying with its prey, with a greater emphasis on the hunt than actually scoring a kill...
Auto-Charge: Ultimate Impact Cannon "V" [2/1]

The electrical discharge from JewelMan's palm was met with fierce resistance. Or rather, similar resistance to the lightning that he had crafted from the topaz gemstones that lurked within his body. It clashed harmlessly against the flickering barrier that the beast had summoned, and JewelMan gave a small 'tsk' under his breath. He was running out of options, and out of his life force too, if truth be told. This creature, whatever it was, was far more skilled at hunting and killing than JewelMan was at surviving. A pity too, but Jewel wasn't going to just bow out yet. He had more that he had to show this creature.
And then it spoke. The voice then, along with the information he had received from the microphone, listening to both Max and Minerva regarding the multi-battle, there was only one of them that this creature could have been. It had...changed since then. Evolved, become far more dangerous. The creature he had seen then looked like it was trying to find its footing, and had survived through virtue of having an almost unnatural longevity.
The beast that stood before him now was unusual in that it seemed to thrive off of combat. Despite what the sisters had argued about, and they were both wrong. This thing that JewelMan was squaring off against was not a fightning Navi. It was a hunting Navi. And he was the prey.
It was a shame he wasn't going to be able to keep up with the other. It moved like it was getting faster with every step. Liek the start of the battle was just the beginning of its adrenaline rush and now it was in full swing. He didn't have the ability to fight against it, not like he had hoped to.
JewelMan expanded the diamond in his arm, flaring it out like a crystalline shield as he blocked the initial strike...but the creature continued its assault, tearing limb from limb as JewelMan eventually had no way to stay alive within this onslaught of attacks. He could feel his data being scattered and before too long... =================== JewelMan Turn Three ===================

=================== Maximillion exhaled slowly, shaking his head. "Well. There goes that, then," the man said with a small grunt, rubbing the back of his head. "Not a combat navi my ass," he responded, giving a slight glare at the girl.

Maximillion's retort falls upon at least one set of deaf ears - Nina seems utterly stunned at what she has just witnessed through the PET's monitor, while Minerva sports a sly, satisfied grin at the result of the skirmish.
"I... w-when was the Master Unit capable of THAT!?" "Hehe! Told you Thrash was tough!" "...Clearly, I need to go to the Arcade more often. Well, that was certainly... intense... is his Navi going to be alright?" "Yeah, probably. That's what the Emergency Jack-Out procedure's for."
The color has drained from the elder sister's face - the spectacle might've been a bit more excitement than she was prepared for tonight. Indeed, that was a performance that could very well inspire nightmares in the weak of heart...
<Well, I certainly had fun. You should bring this guy along more often, I could probably whip his Navi into a suitable sparring partner with a couple more sessions like that.>
THAT came from the younger sister's PET...

Maximillion glanced down to his own PET. JewelMan was fine...for the most part. He'd have to reload some information from a backup but for the most part he didn't suffer any permanent damage. Still, he had never seen a Navi fight like that before. That had been...something else. That had been almost terrifying to see.
"Around more often?" Maximillion asked, before he realized that it had been neither of the two girls that had spoke, but the Navi that they had been fighting against. So this...Thrash...also had a speaker on the PET like JewelMan had. "I...dont' really know. JewelMan isn't exactly built for fighting. He's an industrial Navi. He just gets a big head about things sometimes...but..." he paused then.
Nina had indicated before that the Navi that had just eviscerated JewelMan too had just been a work Navi. Something like that was also a work-related Navi. "I guess I'm not really...opposed. I'm sure JewelMan would want to get back his dignity at some point, too."
He blinked then, looking back up at the women. "Assuming of course that's all right with you. I don't want to impose on anything," he spoke. Now that he had sobered a little from emptying his stomach and watching his Navi get slaughtered, he was a bit more submissive to the owners of such a violent Navi. And violent vehicle. And violent tempers.

"Any time. You know where to find me."
... ... ...
"...Er, I guess you don't. Well, if you're ever in Netsylvania, stop by the Argent Ivy Vineyard. You can't miss-"
Minerva is promptly interrupted by a sound not unlike rolling thunder, a booming din that would probably deafen most people. At least she has those stylish headphones to block out the noise of the Incubus' engine revving up... apparently, Nina slipped away and hopped into the driver's seat of the monstrous machine at some point.
"MIN. ARCADE. NOW."
This is followed by an equally-deafening BWOOOOOOONK as the elder sister impatiently slams her hand down on the horn. If Max could still hear anything, he'd swear that a window just broke somewhere from the sheer absurd volume. Just how the hell is this thing street-legal?
"...Sorry, she only acts like this when she's stressed out. I guess this is happening now..." "Stop wasting time with the old guy! Let's GO already!" <She's also liable to start sampling the product if we do not hurry. We'll keep in touch, yes?>

The man listened to Minerva's words then as she spoke, offering him to where they would be at in case he wanted a rematch or to see about having this 'Thrash' assist with the growth of JewelMan. The Navi was well-suited to his job, but he wondered if there wasn't a way to make that a little...easier. Perhaps a bit more skill in battle would help him, too?
Netsylvania, eh? Well, that explained both Minerva's aesthetic and the...design of the Incubus, Maximillion supposed, wincing at the sudden deafening 'honk sound that emanated from the monstrous machine that sat nearby. He didn't...have any idea how they managed to keep that thing from getting impounded. Money, probably. That was usually the way to handle most officials.
"Got it. Here, you can have this too," he spoke, finding Minerva, despite her exceedingly gothic attire, to be far easier to talk to than the sister that was nearer his own age...but also acted a great deal younger. Pulling out his PET, he linked up again with hers, before sending out his Net Address for both JewelMan and his own private inbox, not wanting to associate the work one with something like this.
"I'll uh. I'll see you around, I guess," Max spoke, scratching at his jawline as he gave a small wave to the younger sister, not quite sure exactly what had happened, just now. Everything seemed to be extremely surreal right now, and to be honest, he wasn't entirely certain that he wasn't still smashed to the point that reality and dream were arm-in-arm.
"Ugh... he grunted, the reminder of the previous bout of alcohol running through him yet, the man attempting to vomit up something more but his stomach was empty at this point as he leaned heavily against the lamp pole.
